Pick-Your-Own Blackberries – What to Know

When is Blackberry Picking?

Blackberry season typically begins in late July and lasts for 2–3 weeks, depending on weather and ripening.
Check our website or social media for the latest picking updates—fields may close temporarily once picked out.

How does pricing work?

Blackberries are priced by the pound, but you must first purchase an approved container from our blackberry booth.
Outside containers are not permitted.

The container fee is minimal and not designed for profit—it simply helps ensure a smooth checkout and accurate weigh-out process.

Are the blackberry plants thorny?

Nope! All of our blackberry varieties are thornless and grow along a vertical trellis system, making picking safer, easier, and more enjoyable.

Do I need a reservation?

Nope—no reservations or tickets are needed. Just stop by during our posted picking hours.

Can I bring my own container?

No. For food safety and accuracy, all berries must be picked into an approved container purchased on-site.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are not permitted in the blackberry fields, even on a leash. Please plan accordingly if visiting with pets.

Where do I park?

Free parking is available in our flat grassy areas, suitable for most vehicles. A few handicap-accessible spots are located near the store, though please be aware that the farm terrain is natural and may be uneven.

What should I bring?

  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes

  • Sun protection (sunscreen, hats—fields have limited shade)

  • Weather-appropriate clothing
We’ll take care of the rest—including the containers!

Can I bring kids?

Yes! Blackberry picking is a great activity for families. Just remember that children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Are restrooms available?

Yes—portable restrooms are available on-site.

Can I take photos?

Of course! Our berry rows are picture-perfect. Photography is welcome, and we’d love it if you tag @GeigsOrchard when posting.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept both cash and credit cards for all purchases, including containers and your freshly picked blackberries.
